Signs expose some of the problems that content designers try to fix in our work. We try to choose the right combination of words and design to help our users do, get, or know something. And really, that’s what signs are trying to do too: whether it’s directing us somewhere, telling us what to do (or not do), or giving us important information.
Most organisations create more content than they can manage. But publishing content without a plan to review and look after it can cause all sorts of problems for users and the organisation later on. Content maintenance does not have to be a big job, but it does have to be a regular one.

We love our content design community. It’s a big collective of supportive, squishy and lively humans. We are a global community, but looking around the world and learning from each other makes the distance between us smaller. That’s why we’ve started a podcast.
