Introduction to Content Design

This 2-hour course is for people who are new to the content design practice and want to understand the skills and experience a content designer needs. It's streamed live from the UK.

Who it's for

You should be familiar with writing or creating content (for example, marketing, copywriting or communications), or have an interest in audience research or graphic design.

What you'll learn

This session gives you the chance to understand what content design is all about. You'll learn what's involved in the content design process, why it's important and how to apply it to your work.

The session will cover:

  • what content design is,
  • how content design is different from writing,
  • the main principles of content design,
  • how content design solves business problems,
  • the skills you need to do content design,
  • what good content looks like,
  • how you can use content design principles in your role,
  • how you can start using content design in your organisation.

Where and when the course happens

The course is taught online using Zoom. It starts at 8am and ends at 10am (UK time).

You'll need:

  • a good internet connection,
  • an up to date web browser,
  • a webcam.

How you'll learn

The session will be delivered online. The course runs for 2 hours and we plan for:

  • 1.5 hours of presentation, discussion and an exercise,
  • a 10 minute break,
  • a 20 minute question and answer session.
