Content Design London

Content design training

Learn how to plan, manage and create user-centred content on a CPD-certified training course.

Content Design London (CDL) gives you the chance to study in small groups and get 1 to 1 support. Our training is taught in a structured, thought-provoking way that challenges existing ideas on how content should be created.

Foundation in Content Design (2 days)

The Foundation course is CPD-certified and for people who are new to content design or want to improve their skills.

You should be used to writing or familiar with creating content for websites or apps.

What you’ll learn

Building on Sarah Winters’ book, this course gives you the chance to design a single piece of content. You’ll do this by finding out who your users are, what they want from you, what they need and how to give it to them.

You’ll learn how to carry out desk research, understand it, and use this information to make evidence-based decisions.

At the end of the 2 days, you’ll be able to:

  • understand how users think, talk and act,
  • explain what your users want,
  • visualise the journeys users take,
  • organise content across channels to support their journey,
  • understand how people read,
  • structure information to match how people behave online,
  • create user-centred content,
  • improve content by working with others.

CPD accredited

Content Design London’s courses are CPD accredited. This means our programmes have been reviewed independently and certified for their quality. If you complete the course, you will receive a certificate which most UK employers recognise.

How you’ll learn

Our courses are taught in small groups, so our class sizes are never more than 16 people. You’ll complete individual exercises, group work and take part in discussions. You’ll also have the chance to get 1 to 1 support.

Advanced Content Design (2 days)

The Advanced course is CPD-certified. It’s for experienced content designers or digital practitioners who want to work more effectively with content teams.

You should be used to working with user needs, user journeys and be familiar with user research.

What you’ll learn

Building on the Foundation in Content design course, you’ll find out how to run a content design project from start to finish.

You’ll learn how to carry out user research and develop a bank of user needs. You’ll also find out how to organise user needs as part of a journey and turn those into pieces of content.

At the end of the 2 days, you’ll be able to:

  • plan a content project from scoping to testing,
  • map a user journey from research data,
  • understand how to get from a bank of user needs to pieces of content,
  • use empathy mapping to inform your content and its tone,
  • get to a content taxonomy and content types from research,
  • match up business needs and user needs,
  • have an understanding of how to involve stakeholders and other teams in your work.
